Dominica is a tropical rainforest from top to bottom! The island has at least three active volcanos, but they mostly just provide the island with plenty of carbon and nitrogen rich soil and bubbly hot sulfur enriched water… Plants grow very fast and very healthy on Dominica. The island boasts a whopping 365 rivers, along with countless waterfalls and over 450 miles of hiking trails that covers almost every region of the island! The climate is tropical and almost always very warm!
Dominica is the closest thing to a tropical paradise this planet has to offer! From places like the Emerald Pool to the Fresh Water Lake, you can find wonderful natural settings that have remained untouched by civilization! And, to top it off, the island has countless hot water springs that bubble up from the ground and collect in natural pools that you are free to relax in and soak away all aches and pains you might have! The island’s thriving tourist business has been heavily built around both communal and private hot spring baths where you can enjoy a local beverage (either alcoholic or non-alcoholic) while relaxing in hot sulfur enriched waters!
If the inland hiking and hot springs adventures are not for you, then you will most certainly enjoy the black sand beaches that stretch from one end of the island to the other! The eastern coast of the island faces the Atlantic ocean and has both steep cliffs and secluded beaches where you are free to lay out and enjoy the sun, watch the beautiful sunset or take a nighttime swim under the moonlight! The western coast faces the Caribbean Sea and has a myriad of public beaches and resorts where you will always find local shops selling beautifully hand made souvenirs and fresh foods and drinks! In the peak tourist seasons you will always find venues with great Dominican music and the local people having fun sharing their beautiful island with those lucky enough to find themselves visiting this magical paradise!
